MLB The Show 2018 is shaping up to be a big year for Sony’s yearly baseball game. The game will feature a revamped Road to the Show mode, a “major gameplay engine tune-up,” and a new player tagging system. The game itself looks quite impressive, and there are over 1,000 new gameplay animations that’ll be in the March 27, 2018 release. Now Sony has released a new video showing off some hilarious bat flip animations.
MLB The Show 2018 was tough for many to accept, and though SCEA had been collecting pre-orders for months by then at least that information was being provided prior to release. What wasn’t mentioned despite plenty of opportunities to do so along the way is that Season Mode had also gotten the ax. That’s especially damaging news to those who planned to carry over Season saves that had been active with MLB The Show 2018 and may have even been played going back further.
The most distressing thing is that the removal of Season Mode was hidden from consumers. There is no excuse for that and no benefit to anyone for doing so. Now those who looked forward to playing Season Mode are either left with a game purchased that they felt was deceptive in its advertising – given that annual sports games are reasonably expected to return core features unless otherwise stated – while others will have to consider its absence in whether they pick up the game in the days or weeks ahead.
New features in The Show 18 include a new batting stance creator, which lets you create your own batting stance and edit anyone else’s batting stance. Another new feature in franchise mode is “Phases”, “Phases” allow you to see what your focus is at each point in the season and keep it much more organized.
